Serge Leblon, ”Fashion” 10 years of photography

Preview

Photographer Serge Leblon recently teamed up with fellow belges at Base Design in Brussels to publish his first book Fashion (Lido). The 256 pages retracing 10 years of his striking photography including work for designers like Rykiel, Hermès and Cacharel. Designer Veronique Branquinho says that ”the language of Serge Leblon is poetical and has soul; it has the charisma of French avant-garde movies.”

Leblon began his career far removed from the fashion world, as a news photographer covering the Lebanon war from the front. Perhaps this experience has contributed to the aesthetic of his fashion images, which balance life with abandonment, a zest for living with plain melancholy.

Serge Leblon (born 1964) is today a regular contributor to magazines like Double, AnOther Man, Dazed & Confused, Self Service and Elle US.

His photos explore the boundaries between life and desolation, between melancholy and lust for life as he plays with soft focus and light. Leblon himself describes his style as ”evanescent and colourful”.

Also included in the book is an interview between Serge Leblon and film- and TV director Loïc Prigent.
