Romain Laurendeau : Camille

Preview

The Camille Lepage – On est ensemble Association was founded on September 20, 2014, only months after the death of the photojournalist Camille Lepage while reporting in the Central African Republic. The  Association commemorates Camille, her work and commitment. The publishing house  CDP Editions – Collection des photographes responded quickly and generously, publishing a book, République centrafricaine – On est ensemble , presenting Camille Lepage’s last report in the Central African Republic.

CDP Editions has kindly donated all proceeds from the sale of the book to the Camille Lepage – On est ensemble Association. The initiative by Denis Cuisy, the director of the publishing house, has  made it possible for the Association to establish and fund the award, with prize money of 8000 euros, to provide support and encouragement for a  photojournalist committed to a long – term project.

The jury for the first Camille Lepage Award (2015) met on June 11, 2015.  The members were Barbara Clément (Elle magazine), Magali Jauffret (L’Humanité ), Catherine Lalanne ( Pèlerin Magazine), Dan Torres ( Jeune Afrique ), Lorenzo Virgili and Maryvonne Lepage, the chairperson.

The winner of the first award is Romain Laurendeau. Romain Laurendeau now intends to spend a number of months in Algeria, reporting on the younger generation there,a follow up of  his work on  young people in Bab el Oued. He will have a special focus on the role of football and “Dikis” (secret spots for drinking, smoking and tattooing).
