Our collaborator Lucile Béranger is exhibiting her photos in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. It’s a joy to present them to you here! She writes:
I grew up in a very old house. The three attics of this old farmhouse were filled with old furniture, books from another era, trunks full of family documents and photos.
Old photos, without names, without context, without identity.
I’ve been finding photos like these at flea markets in the Southwest of France, which I’ve been casually browsing for several years.
Some of them contain information, others none. So my imagination tries to place the story, the context, first names, and family ties.
For the past three years, I’ve been illustrating some of them. I like to imagine that I’m bringing a bit of life back into a story. I play with colors, with characters.
Today, I’m exhibiting my photographs as part of Rencontres d’Aubergine. This is the seventh edition of this contemporary art festival in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, which takes place in various venues throughout the city.
