It’s been nearly a quarter of a century since the dissolution of the CCCP Fedeli alla Linea, the musical group created by Giovanni Lindo Ferretti , Massimo Zamboni , Danilo Fatur and Annarella Giudici, who invented the filosoviet punk music in the eighties
At the very beginning of the nineties the Berlin Wall was falling down and the Soviet Union was dissolving and the group, then among the most well known in Italy, was dissolving as well. Not before, however, having recorded an LP and a farewell song titled Annarella, like the female lead of the group, who used to perform wearing dresses that changed her into different characters for different moods .
For Annarella (Antonella Giudici) changing her own scene costumes was as significant as the words of the group, as the members of the CCCP Fedeli alla Linea stressed in an interview in 1989 ( Rai1): ” .. Antonella, when changing a scene costume and taking on a character that fits with that costume, is worth as much as a verse or a guitar riff that someone thinks beautiful or well executed”.
The exhibition at Spazio Gerra in Reggio Emilia, is dedicated to Annarella, with images of concerts, events, tv appearances, photo shoots in order to show her artistic work and her multifaceted being while changing from flamenco dancer to classical dancer or in any of the female characters she interpreted, always with unexpected outfits. Though in a logical way, according to this quote (CCCP Fedeli alla Linea, 1998):
“Certainly the outfit … The monks, for example, had outfit problems. At that time wearing a certain dress was to accept a public dimension, a role, to be part of a tradition. (…) The dress is the mask, and the mask, once worn, is the one who orders (…) A narcissism that needs to disguise himself continuously to continue existing (…). Praise to the Soubrettes, true uncritical and unaware consciousness of our time. “
The exhibition shows Ghirri’s images, including the cover of the last LP of the group “Epica Etica Etnica Pathos” as well as some unpublished photos; also interesting are the photos Giovanni Lindo Ferretti shot of Annarella in 1982-1983, when the group was just forming: they show a particular sense of aesthetic which, together with the songs, the texts and the music, became a brand style for the CCCP Fedeli alla Linea.
Starting with the original material of the period, and new images, Annarella recall her creative work in designing and manufacturing costumes and her artistic contribution in dancing and performing . The exhibition follows a thematic path with sections (Emilia, Europe, Islam, Asia, Feelings) and images by various photographers: Luigi Ghirri (unpublished photos, too), Federico Brandani, Vittorio Catti, Toni Contiero, Diego Cuoghi, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Gianni Ingrosso, Roberto Rocchi, Roberto Serra, Rossana Tagliati
The exhibition is inspired by the book Annarella Benemerita Soubrette CCCP Fedeli alla Linea by Annarella Giudici, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Rossana Tagliati with texts by Marco Belpoliti and Benedetto Valdesalici (Quodlibet, 2014) and is curated by Spazio Gerra with the collaboration of Annarella Giudici and Rossana Tagliati
