Priska Pasquer Paris : Rinko Kawauchi : Illuminance, Aila & Utatane

Preview

Priska Pasquer Paris presents the work of Japanese photographer Rinko Kawauchi (born in 1972 in Shiga, Japan) during two consecutive personal exhibitions, where four series are shown.

After the first exhibition entitled Ametsuchi, the second focuses on three series relating to the world around us. In Illuminance, Rinko Kawauchi draws inspiration from the subtle aesthetic of wabi-sabi – a philosophy of moderation, modesty and the beauty of imperfection – and opens up an enchanting perspective. In the Utatane series (Japanese term meaning “nap”), the artist explores the search for the sublime in the banal. With Aila, Rinko Kawauchi questions the moments that follow one another from life to death, from the fragile and mysterious ones of birth, to the effervescence and the ephemeral.
