For more than 20 years Patrice Guéritot navigated between advertising, edition and fashion, lingerie, cosmetics and, in parallel, the world of horses that is his passion since the age of 7 when he lived in Ivory Coast.
As soon as he arrived in France at the age of 16, the love of horses, from mountain hikes, to eventing to polo … pushed him to photograph horses in different worlds; nature, circus, racing, fantasias, competitions (dressage) or polo.
Photographer, and kind of digital painter, he uses the infinite power of the computer in the process of creating his visuals. Magnifying, optimizing without transmuting the colors and reinventing the lighting, freely, he gives birth to a true universe of its own.
Genesis of the exhibition …
Maktoob “as the Moroccans say … (God is testing us) – and at the request of my illustrious host, Mr Patrick Guerrand-Hermes – propelled me in 2012 at the horse show of El Jadida (Morocco), prestigious show at which I had the honor to be presented to His Royal Highness, MOHAMED VI.
In the compound of the racecourse, I discovered the magic of this Moroccan equestrian art, of such a nobility that His Majesty himself devotes an exclusive and very particular attention to it. Subjugated, the word is not too strong to describe the state in which this fantastic show plunged me.
It is the galloping heart in unison with the dull vibrations of hooves hitting the ocher of the Moroccan soil, impressed by the nobility and the pride of the riders mixing the detonations of their moukalas to the bursts of my camera. I left with lots of new images that bring me today to offer you this equestrian fairytale “.
