Paris Photo 2011 –Csaba Morocz Photographies (France)

Preview

Introduction
Csaba Morocz Photographies started its art dealer activities in 1986. We exhibit artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. Our ambition is to reveal French and central European artists from the period between the two World Wars.

What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
The market – for the last twenty years – breaks down into three parts (historic, modern, and contemporary). For the historic (19th Century) only great confirmed values are marketable and the price of travel photographs, with a certain ethnographic interest , have now reached significant heights.
In terms of modern photography (1900 – 1960) it is divided into two parts – “vintage” and “non-vintage”. Prices for big names and “vintage” and iconic images continue to grow and those of “non-vintage” images stagnate or fall. The various processes, such as Photoshop and others, have enriched contemporary photography.
This evolution does not guarantee that everything will remain for posterity, but as in the case of modern photography, at least 10% of todays photographs will become history. The next step will be the discovery and development of documentary photography related to photo-journalism of the 20th century. In the near future, these images will reach unprecedented prices.
