Paris : Marie and Jean Baptiste Hugo

Preview

Through May 28th, 2016,The Galerie Catherine Houard will present for the first time Marie and Jean-Baptiste Hugo, two heirs from a long line of artists: descendants of the illustrious Victor Hugo (1802- 1884) and children of the theater painter and decorator Jean Hugo (1894- 1985).  Jean-Baptiste Hugo is a painter, sculptor, and photographer.  He lives and works in London and in his family home in Lunel.  He offers a series of photographs in the spirit of Dutch still lifes from the 16th and 17th centuries.

The exhibition also allows the viewer to discover Victor Hugo’s “Hauteville House” on the isle of Guernsey through the view points of the two different artists.  This was his dwelling place during his time in exile and the only house he ever owned, entirely furnished and decorated by himself between 1856 and 1870.  Jean-Baptiste Hugo is unveiling a selection of these photographs of the property.
