A photographic commission for young photographers from Of Soul and Joy: the health crisis in South Africa seen from the townships of Johannesburg.
Of Soul and Joy is a photography learning platform in the township of Thokoza, in South Africa, initiated in 2012 by Rubis Mécénat, endowment fund of the Rubis group which promotes artistic creation and supports societal actions.
Following containment measures and the closure of schools in South Africa, the Of Soul and Joy program continues to work remotely with the beneficiaries of the programs.
In order to keep in touch with the young photographers and to continue their artistic training, the photographer and project manager Jabulani Dhlamini offered them to make from their home a photographic series allowing them to express their personal vision of this health crisis in the form of ‘a photo reportage. The photo material made available for the lessons was loaned to the students.
