Nomad Art Collective recently proposed Summer of Abandon, a two- part online exhibition of staged photographs by Sicilian artist Carla Sutera Sardo on Artsy’s Viewing Room platform. It is not available anymore but we still wanted to present her work.
Through ten vibrant and emotionally layered images, Summer of Abandon explores the female figure in water and movement, navigating themes of freedom, identity, and the act of letting go. The series unfolds as a visual journey, capturing the fleeting and transformative energy of the Sicilian summer.
Carla Sutera Sardo, born in Agrigento in 1983, discovered photography during her university studies between Palermo and Rome, initially as a self-taught artist through self-portraiture. Her work focuses on the female figure and the dialogue between bodies and landscapes, creating dreamlike images suspended in time.
Nomad Art Collective is an independent gallery based in Sambuca di Sicilia, dedicated to contemporary art that explores themes of identity, place, memory, and transformation. Founded with the intention of giving voice to Mediterranean artists, through curated exhibitions and online platforms, Nomad promotes a dialogue between art, place, and community.
