For three years, Maud Bernos has roamed harbors, immortalizing the faces of 39 sailors, men and women, on their return from sea. These images, accompanied by facsimiles of her notebooks, are published in a work by Gallimard editions under the name « Tous les marins ont les yeux bleus » (All sailors have blue eyes).
« She tracks skippers, to obtain time with them just at the finish of a race, or a few days later, in order to photograph them while they are still ‘in it’, full of what they’ve just lived, when their looks still bear the light, the fatigue, the fear, the horizon, the solitude, the grace, the violence. »
