LOSPAZIO : Carolina Cuneo : Impossible Dreams

Preview

In her creative endeavors, Carolina Cuneo evolves with great determination. She brings to her work a gentle mix between the constancy of her guiding ideas and frequent innovations in technical renderings. This new exhibition, in his hometown of Genoa, takes up the duality between human constructions and the resumption of its rights by nature, through the trees.

The surprise it offers us and the great interest of this presentation results from the use of lenticular printing to achieve its ends.

This technique had its last heyday in the 1950s/1960s. For us photographers, we must produce a single, unique image with two photographs of exactly the same size as the final image. Through an optical game, it is one or the other of the two superimposed photographs that will appear to the reader. When the know-how is well mastered, effects of movements, reliefs, fades or others are born spontaneously under the (often intrigued) gaze of the curious.

In the exhibition that interests us, Carolina was able to judiciously choose this technology for the questions she gives us in her latest collection. As prestigious as they are, all the constructions selected will certainly be overtaken by the demands of Nature. The ghosts of the future are already evident and a glance reveals them to us.

It is quite obvious that carrying out such work (even if it is now facilitated by its digital approach) requires extreme perfection and skill. The total involvement of the author and the shooters is essential otherwise it will be completely illegible.

It should be noted that the original photographs are of excellent quality, the editing associations are judicious, the hanging creations are efficient; Through each of the stories, the result is an understanding at both the first and second levels as well as a justified questioning.
