The Preview
The Galerie Voies Off moved into Stand G19 for a week at the London Art Fair, the biggest English art fair for modern and contemporary art. It hosts 128 galleries representing the biggest names of the 20th century, along with recent work and emerging talent.
While photography is only a small part of the fair, the curatorial projects and the “Art Projects” section demonstrate the efforts of the festival organizers to support the emerging photography market.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Voies Off, allowing us to assert our global presence by promoting the artists we represent to new collectors and the British public. We received a very warm welcome from the London Art Fair team, which showed remarkable professionalism throughout the week.
Our first impressions during the festival opening were very positive. There were a lot of people, and we started off quickly with sales of portfolios. We hope that next week will allow us to fulfill our goals of raising the profile of our artists in the UK.
For the fair, we selected the photographs of Marlous van der Sloot and Richard Petit, whom we have represented for over four years. For the first time, we presented the work of Tito Mouraz, a Portuguese photographer whose work we have represented in France for the past month. With the highly sensitive and rigorous black and white series Casa das Sete Senhoras (“The House of Seven Women”), Mouraz explores a legend from his native village.
