The photo world thought Ilford was dead and buried—they were wrong. While the former site of the company is being turned into the Marly Innovation Center designed by the architect Bernard Vichet, the famous paper it produced has also found a second life thanks to a partnership between Chugai Photo Co. and C.R. Kennedy & Company, who acquired Ilford’s trademarks and assets for the sum of 2 million Swiss francs.

The news brought a bitter smile to the faces of some former employees. “The money acquired through a transaction like this is added to the bankruptcy estate, which is used to pay off debts to suppliers and former employees.” But many fear they will never see a cent of what is owed to them.
