We continue and present the projects selected by Les Nuits Photographiques 2015 awards, which took place on September 19th. Today is about “LA 440“, directed by Caroline Cutaia, french photographer.
This sequence is taken during the “off” on a short film shoot.
During filming, there are opportunities when things arranged themselves in an interesting manner. There remains to virtually just capture them.
When the light on the camera is not on, the “waiting” scenes have a strong comic potential, the standing by of the actors and extras take on the form of a tired carnival. Patiently sticking around without moving until the director calls “action” to restore life. Cinema without the camera is living photography.
Here, I asked the crew (off-camera included) to hold the LA as long as possible, which would determine the length of the sequence.
The LA 440, our standard, is a good image of what happens on a film set, setting pace with a team that despite false notes guarantees the functioning and the balance of the ensemble.
