In 1937, Robert Doisneau moved into a building in Montrouge intended for artists. He remained there his entire life. Two large studios were used, split between family life and photographic work. The space smelled strongly of hyposulfite, the darkroom was temporarily installed in the bathroom, and the archive filing cabinets multiplied. Everything pointed to this space becoming one day the “Atelier Robert Doisneau”.
This came about around the year 2000.
In this studio, photography now reigns supreme. It is here that exhibitions are created, published works are designed, and the photographic collection continues to thrive.
In close collaboration with the Gamma Rapho agency, which handles the commercial distribution of the collection, the “Atelier Robert Doisneau” continues its intensive outreach efforts.
