I consider my current work as an open project, which grows parallel to an everyday creative activity based on lived experience.

For this particular series, that began in 2008, I collected my Facebook profile pictures. I experienced the process of producing images that will be my online representation, and record the interaction that occurs through them with my hundreds of virtual friends .

I am very interested in the idea of identity, especially in the midst of the ongoing technological/information revolution, where new platforms for communication have been created. How the advent of social networking has allowed us to reinvent ourselves. How we can create a character, not necessarily based on our image, but based on our idea of how we want ourselves to appear.

Another phenomenon I am drawn to is the “mediatization” of ourselves, and how this custom is becoming more and more ingrained in our culture. How the line separating our public and private lives is becoming less and less evident, and how at times these two aspects of our lives have started to overlap; consequently negating our need for introspection, redefining our identity yet again.

Intimacy is an important part of who we are, but nowadays, we apparently must show it to confirm we exist.

From this standpoint, I cast myself as the protagonist . In the same manner, and with a twist of irony, I put myself into this world of celebrity and fame, searching for my own myth.
