Kate Barry –Dinard intime

Preview

Coming from a family of artists overflowing with talent, Kate Barry is the only one to have chosen photography. It’s her own way of being a composer, interpreter and actor in this world. She’s an internationally renowned photographer and every one of her pictures expresses a delicate empathy with what’s around her. During a photo sitting with Kate Barry, actresses and comediennes appreciate more than anything her modesty, discretion and non-interference. There’s no posing and the real personality is captured with gentleness and finesse. The subtleties that make the beauty of the moment so precious are revealed through her confident approach. With this same approach and objective, Kate Barry has photographed the very beautiful seaside resort of Dinard in Brittany: simple and basic, just the purity of life there off-season, when everything’s there for man, but no one’s there. Houses, benches and paths wait sagely for the return of those whose very absence gives the landscape its presence.

These photos, which you can discover in the book “Dinard, Essai d’autobiographie immobilière” by Jean Rolin and Kate Barry and published in 2012 by Table Ronde Editions, are offered by Ze Art Galerie in large edition or medium-size format and are available in eight signed and numbered copies. It’s the discovery of an intimate Dinard that Kate Barry shows us in these photos, which also illustrate the emotion and subtlety of the words by Jean Rolin in their joint book, in which one of them worked on the words and the other behind the lens. “It was a wonderful view, which filled me with such elation, sometimes to the point of tears.” “I hope you’ll understand better, in light of the above, why Dinard has remained for the greater part of my life the place where I dreamed of living, in spite of everything.” Those who love Dinard will be totally seduced, but those who don’t yet know it will perhaps be even more so. They will savour completely this timelessness, with such a strong revelation that the most precious moments are perhaps those which escape us in the paradoxical vision of what lives on in the transience of our lives.
