We learned of the passing of photographer Nigel Scott. Corkin Gallery released this statement.
Born in Jamaica, Nigel Scott left Toronto in 1987 for Paris, where he quickly gained recognition when one of his iconic images became the cover of City: Magazine International.
From Kingston to Toronto, Paris, Tokyo, and New York, Nigel built an artistic career. An avid surfer, Scott lived in cities that afforded him proximity to the sea. His photographs, cyanotypes, and blue paintings reflect his connection to water and are held in collections worldwide.
Corkin Gallery mourns the loss of a remarkable photographer and artist. We share this sorrow with Nigel’s family, friends, and the wider art world.
