Harold Hermann : A Corps écrits

Preview

Arles 2020 day to day by Thierry Maindrault

There is a special atmosphere inside cellar number one, into the basement, of “La Place de la Photographie”. The photographic prints line up perfectly on each side of the arch. The tempo is given, nothing can distract you anymore. The whole is homogeneous in its creative and technical treatment, there is not one false note here.

In spite of yourself, you entered inside a story, you are captive part of the atmosphere, you have become passive but present witnesses. It’s delicate, it’s pictorial, it’s romantic, you are bewitched until the last picture (wasn’t it the first, of this endless static film ?), without ever falling into voyeurism or vulgarity. I climb back the stairs and the dream slowly fades like waking up from anesthesia.

This could be explained. Harold Hermann has a double cap, he navigates between his activity of anesthesiologist-resuscitator and his photographic passions. His medical dedication, in the Parisian region, has particularly kept him busy since the start of the epidemic wave of this year. However, his standstill staging,  in chiaroscuro with delicate colors were completed on time, to amaze us.
