The Galerie du Fort Liédot, on the Île d’Aix, in partnership with the Corderie Royale de Rochefort-sur-Mer, is presenting an exhibition by Daniel Nouraud entitled ” Place de la grève échos du rivage” until September 30. Alain Bergala wrote the accompanying text.
Daniel Nouraud’s Journey
Why does Daniel Nouraud undertake such artistic journeys? Not to go somewhere. Not to discover new landscapes in the world, like other photographers. Not to gather nostalgia, like the Romantics. Not to expose himself to the dangers of the unknown, like adventurers.
But then why?
Just to put oneself in a state of reception free of any preconceived ideas, where the world is young, fresh, innocent, where nature and abstraction are not incompatible, where species coexist in a primal peaceful innocence, where the very near and the very far are no longer separated, where shapes and colors enter into new, enigmatic, and joyful constellations.
He brings back traces of a world as joyful as a Mirò painting or as enigmatic as a Paul Klee painting, signs that were his alone to decipher. Thanks to his ability to maintain a state of childlike surprise before the enigmas of the visible, forgetting all the expectations of the tourist, the photographer, the romantic, the adventurer.
Nouraud travels above all to the land of innocent signs.
