Franck Boutonnet, Wedding Photographer

Preview

In order to become a photojournalist, Franck Boutonnet first became a photographer. In 2001 with Bertrand Gaudillère he founded the collective item which today counts 7 documentary photographers  Romain Etienne, Morgan Fache, Nicolas Leblanc, Hugo Ribes, Jeremy Suyker, a graphic designer Yannick Bailly, a director/editor Christina Firmino and a project manager Mika Sato.

This photography became a common theme in all areas of an eclectic and demanding professional practice. Across his personal subjects and in his assignments, Franck Bouttonet always constructs a narrative and this, with a strong aesthetic and without concession.

He learnt wedding photography as he went along to his friends  ceremonies  and immediately found there his favorite subject. Over the years he joined some international structures (WPJA, ISPWP, WPS, Fearless) and saw his work regularly rewarded and recognized until 2009 when he received the WPJA Photographer of the Year 2008 award.

For a few years he has worked closely with Philippe Somnolet, an anthropologist and photographer, a collaborator of the collective. They worked together to organize and present this photographic material to capture the contemporary issues in the wedding ritual and the place of those who constitute its memory.
