Fort Amsterdam Press announces the publication of its inaugural book, Indifferent West by Daniel Mirer. An exhibition will run at the ElliottGallery in Amsterdam through January 16, 2026.
Mirer has been journeying into the arid and unforgiving lands of the U.S. Southwest for over 30 years.
“I photograph the sentimental, mythic, and ever-changing representations of the American frontier,” says Mirer, “scenes that are familiar and clichéd—picturesque constructions of a Western ideal. These landscapes, while inspiring, serve as sites where culture repurposes and romanticizes the West, further distancing it from its own history.” – Daniel Mirer
