First Edition of the St. Barth Photo Festival

Preview

On November 23rd, 2021 is opening the St. Barth Photo Festival to celebrate the best of Fashion photography against the backdrop of the iconic beaches of St Barthélemy island.

The first of its kind to occur, the Festival is opening with an exhibition at Wallhouse Museum in partnership with the Prix Picto de la Photographie de Mode. It will climax from November 24rd to December 02nd, with nine Art Party opening events every night thanks to a collaboration between ten renowned photographers and ten five-star hotels.

The Festival’s opening events will run through December 02nd, followed by month-long solo exhibitions.

Organized by the St Barth Artists Association and the Collectivity of Saint Barthélemy, and the Tourism Board, the Festival shows over 140 photographs from an impressive group of great photographers: Daniel Arsham, David Bellemere, Brian Bowen Smith, David Drebin, Marco Glaviano, Greg Kadel, Greg Lotus, Fred Meylan, Ellen von Unwerth and Ben Watts.

In collaboration with this lineup of artists are St. Barthélemy’s ten most dazzling hotels the Cheval Blanc, Christopher, Eden Rock, Rosewood le Guanahani, Hotel Barrière Carl Gustaf, Le Barthélemy, Manapany, Le Sereno, Le Toiny, and the Villa Marie. Each hotel will host an exhibition open to the public for visitors to discover the artworks with an option to purchase them. Each opening night will be a unique opportunity to hear from the photographers directly and create a unique chance to fully immerse in the world of fashion photography in the relaxed and festive atmosphere that makes the Island so special. “We wanted to create a festival that would be simultaneously very high end with a solid group of photographers yet relaxed in the spirit of the Island,” shared Antoine Verglas, President of the Festival.

St. Barth also has a longstanding history as the ideal place for photographic creation. Its lush natural and diverse landscapes, its topography, and its flowing waters have often set the Island as the backdrop for many photographs. From sun-kissed models on beaches to blue crystal waters to sophisticated evenings, every image taken in St. Barth has undeniably left a mark on the history of fashion photography.

The St. Barth Photo Festival is a glorious revival of the fashion photography’s rich and deeply layered relationship to the Island. It has quickly stirred excitement and anticipation as the bookings for American Holiday Thanksgiving and Winter birds show a strong desire to enjoy the magnetism of the Island again. We will be covering every opening night at The Eye of Photography for insider access to this new and exciting Festival.
