For its 32nd edition, the International Festival of Fashion and Photography of Hyères widens its path between eclecticism and demand, always anxious to generate new spaces of dialogue between young creation and fashion professionals.
The jury * presided this year by British fashion photographer Tim Walker, whose unpublished series of photos will be exhibited at Villa Noailles during the festival, selected among the 66 shortlisted dossiers 10 finalists with very varied profiles.
Among the works included are the light and caustic images of the Dutch photographer Roos Quakernaat, who points out, through a character of a housewife engaged in enigmatic gymnastic movements, the absurdity of some of our social habits, sculptural explorations combining form and movement of the American Luis Alberto Rodriguez, the digital collages of the Armenian Lucie Khahoutian nourished by the imaginary abounding of the cinematographer Serguei Paradjanov, or the surprising pictorial researches of the Finnish Sofia Okkonen
As each year the winner will be nominated at the end of the festival and will receive an endowment of 15 000 euros offered by La Maison CHANEL. The American Vintage Photography Award will reward one of the finalists with an equivalent endowment, while Elie Saab will offer one of the photographer a € 6,000 creation grant and a three-week artistic residence in Lebanon to create a series on Beirut.
