Twenty years and more… this exhibition’s title has a double meaning and represents the perfect philosophy of my pathway through the photography of the nude. The age of my models is one part, but especially the story of the times, the past, present and future remain part of the continuity of my work as an artist.
For close to thirty years, I have photographed the Nude; from year to year, my view and my style have remained faithful to the original representation of my beginning, to the point where it is sometimes difficult to date or to differentiate images made more than twenty years apart.
This timelessness is also connected to the photographic spirit that drives me. The representative nature of the nude body is not the main thing that I’m looking for, a photographer has to tell a story in a universal language understood by everybody.
I make every effort to integrate the model into the scene, into a context, into a situation and I attach the greatest importance to the natural light that I work with, in all its simplicity.
I’ve always done my artistic work in analogue black and white with full-frame prints made on an enlarger on baryta paper; a choice that, to my eyes, is the aristocracy of photography.
This selection of images is an exhibition of close to one hundred works that for many years have been shown in different galleries and shows in France, Italy and China. Many of the photographs are in private and public collections.
