Exhibition Trail: La Petite Poule Noire

Preview

La Petite Poule Noire is a young photographic gallery that opened in the Spring of 2010. Located on the boulevard des Filles du Calvaire, the gallery is presenting 39 prints from Bertrand Meunier’s story Hub side down which will run from February 3 through March 31, 2011.

Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai : four vibrating cities, four Asian megalopolis, four “hub’s” where Bertrand Meunier traveled. In this photographic fiction, he tries to create a fifth city, an imaginary place, a vision, an interrogation about people in these modern urban worlds. In black and white, with heavy grain, he steps back, observes the contact sheet, the revelations, with Bertrand Meunier the cities’ architecture becomes an abstraction, people emerge. This expressionist approach where the form determines the dialogue, places him in a league including Anders Petersen, Bertrand Meunier observes with determination the destiny of man in a particular context. His thought process is the continuing result of a project he began in China ten years ago.
