In the heart of the Italian Piedmont ricefields, French photographer Sophie Zénon revisits her family history around the figure of “mondina”, a former seasonal worker who has inspired many artists (musicians, filmmakers …), still very popular today in Italy. Halfway between ethnological and plastic research, between memory and intimacy, this work mixing photographs, archives and videos, draws its source from a buried memory and deals with the exile, the identity, the loss of the places where one is born, where one lived. A book is now published with a preface by author Laura Serani, the reproduction of the works on display and a biography of the artist.
