Silvia Cintra Art Gallery is pleased to present “É preciso ver no escuro”, a solo show by Brazilian born artist Laercio Redondo (b. 1967, Paranavaí).
Redondo received his MFA at Konstfack, University of Art, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. In his artistic research, Redondo engages extensively with collective memory and its erasure in society. His work is often based on the interpretation of specific events in relation to the city, architecture and historical representation.
In almost twenty years of services to Brazilian contemporary art, Silvia Cintra Art Gallery has established itself as one of the main galleries in the country as well as a reference in Rio de Janeiro. In January 2010, the gallery moved from its former location in Ipanema to a new three-story building built specially to host the gallery in Gávea, the new cultural spot in Rio de Janeiro. The new space also consolidates the merging of Silvia Cintra Art Gallery and Box 4, the gallery founded in 2006 by Juliana Cintra, Silvia´s daughter, focused on young artists. With the merge, the gallery Silvia Cintra + Box 4 seeks to concentrate in one place the best of what is being made in Brazilian contemporary art, with an intense dialogue between established and emerging artists.
