On the occasion of the 15th edition of MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, we are pleased to announce the collaboration between Fiere di Parma S.p.A. – MIA Photo Fair BNP Pariba and Superstudio Events Srl, with the sponsorship of FUJIFILM for the launch of an international call for entries focused on the theme “Metamorphosis, from Garment to Skin: DIFFERENTLY ME.”
The call is open to students from 18 to 28 years old from photography, communication, design and fashion schools across Europe. Showcasing the most promising emerging talents and helping them step into the professional world aligns perfectly with the vision of MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas and Superstudio, both committed to exploring new horizons and looking to the future. A commitment to exploring new creative and cultural horizons, in collaboration with the finest schools in the field – true incubators of the professionals of tomorrow. Young photographers are, for the first time, offered the opportunity to appear on a prestigious international stage: the most important fine-art photography fair hosted in Milan’s most renowned event venue.
For this inaugural edition, the SPA – Superstudio Photo Award is dedicated to Oliviero Toscani, the legendary photographer who recently passed away. The award was created to pay tribute to his genius, his expressive freedom, and his revolutionary vision of photography — particularly in the field of fashion, but not only. Toscani has been, like few others, able to read and anticipate the transformations of contemporary society. With this award, Superstudio pays tribute not only to Oliviero Toscani’s legacy but also to the personal and professional bond he shared with founders Flavio Lucchini and Gisella Borioli, who in 1983 created the City of Fashion Image.
The Superstudio Photo Award aims to serve as a bridge between past and future, inspiring young creatives to reach for new and higher goals. One year after Toscani’s passing, it offers an opportunity to feel close to his spirit by carrying forward his free, fearless, and ever-contemporary vision. Each year, the award will honour a different Master of photography.
The winners will have the opportunity to exhibit their work free of charge in the award show held during MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, from 19 to 22 March 2026, with a special preview by invitation on 18 March. At the close of the fair, one of the winning photographers will be chosen by visitors and by the technical jury to create a personalized professional photo shoot, completely free of charge, with the support of Superstudio Set + Ephoto and the participation of experienced professionals at the renowned Superstudio 13 studios on Via Forcella in Milan. The award also includes a PPM (Pre-Production Meeting), a preliminary session where the winner will present their project and production requirements, mirroring the process of a professional photoshoot.
FUJIFILM will provide professional photographic equipment on loan for the realization of the shooting.
The Superstudio Photo Award 2026 highlights contemporary concepts of identity, aesthetic freedom, and self-representation within fashion, beauty, and style photography. The call invites young photographers to explore how imagery today can express personal values, desires, and visions in an era where traditional conventions have dissolved.
How do young people tell their own stories now?
Which visual codes emerge from a freedom of expression that transcends established rules?
These are the profound questions the Award poses as a creative stimulus and an opportunity for introspection -encouraging an authentic and courageous reflection on one’s own artistic path.
