Matthias Bruggmann won the second edition of the Prix Elysée, supported by Parmigiani Fleurier, for his project on Syria. Hoping to “arouse in a Western audience a visceral understanding of the intangible violence that underlies any conflict”, he takes a gamble by hiding nothing in his explicit and brutal pictures. The exhibition is accompanied by a book co-published by Éditions Xavier Barral and the Musée de l’Elysée, produced thanks to the funding of the Prix Elysée.
