Martine Ravache has created a workshop on ‘reading’ images entitled ‘Learning to see’, the title of which is also quite a programme.
Using a wide range of exercises based on a large body of historical and contemporary photographs, she leads participants to become aware of their personal relationship to the ‘gaze’, to photography in general and to its history. From an unexpected angle, with the help of numerous moments of image analysis (associating, comparing, describing, commenting, etc.), it leads each participant, always in a playful way, to develop a more vigilant eye and to enrich their approach to photographic works.
This course will take place on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 July 2025 as part of the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles.
Martine Ravache is a graduate of the Ecole du Louvre and has been a critic and photography specialist since she started working for Magazine Littéraire in 1991.
