LE BAL IS GOING ONE STEP FURTHER TO SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION OF CREATIVE WORK IN THE LONG TERM; AND PRESENTS THE FIRST EDITION OF THE LE BAL AWARD FOR YOUNG ARTISTS WITH ADAGP 2019.
This award is open to all photographers and/or videographers resident in Europe and under 40 years of age. LE BAL will support the laureate in completing an already-initiated creative project over a two year period. Priority will be given to projects falling under the broad spectrum of the documentary image, still and motion, representing diverse world hypotheses, positions, and constructions of human experience. The laureate will receive a grant of 20,000 euros to complete their project. In autumn 2017, the two years will culminate in an exhibition of the laureate’s work across the two spaces at LE BAL and a publication.
The first edition of the LE BAL award for young artists with the ADAGP has been awarded to Clément Cogitore for his project Braguino or the impossible community to be shown at LE BAL from 15th September to 23 December 2017. Sitting on the judging panel, chaired by Diane Dufour, the director of LE BAL, are : Hugues Aubry, patron ; Kader Attia, artist ; Alain Bublex, artist ; Léa Bismuth, independent curator ; Élisabeth Garouste, artist and architect ; Régine Hatchondo, head director of La Création artistique (Ministère de la Culture) ; Thomas Schlesser, Fondation Hartung-Bergman director and Natacha Wolinski, journalist. They will meet in October 2017 to select the prize laureate and special mentions.
