After showing “Bestiaire” at the gallery’s first inaugural exhibition in spring 2018, L’ANGLE is delighted to welcome photographer David Tatin once again to present in exclusivity his new series of photographs, “Cosmos”.
In wild nature as in sites that only seem urban, David Tatin’s photographs question our relationship to life, to the territory, and to the traces left by man. The artist likes to explore the margins and areas of friction, walk, and immerse himself in the spaces he travels through:
“Being outdoors for a long time, hiking for days on your own, is first of all walking, eating, sleeping. And again. To advance in the landscapes, to see them appear, to dive into them. Temporarily inhabit them, night after night, step after step. Then, the physical appearance fades and you abandon yourself to a permanent round trip between the outside and yourself. Between the immense and the detail. Between two essentials. To be in the open air, if you listen to the expression as much as you read it, is to celebrate this marriage between the heavenly and the earthly. Where the material and the intangible meet. At a crucial moment in our civilization, it means reconnecting with our origins. It means creating a new cosmology, free from the opposition between the savage and the civilized. “ – David Tatin
Born in 1975 in Arles, David Tatin trained in various structures, including the course certifying the continuing education of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles, and also holds a master’s degree in biology. His personal series are regularly published and exhibited, especially since 2013, when he decided to devote himself entirely to photography. Using both old and digital processes, he also carries out commissioning work for regional nature parks, and supervises internships for the Orbisterre association –www.orbistere.fr.
In 2019, in addition to the exhibition in exclusivity at the gallery in Hendaye, L’ANGLE presents the work of David Tatin’s, “Cosmos” series, at the “50th Rencontres de la photographie de Arles” – 8 rue Dulau – from 1st to 14th July, as well as at “fotofever Paris 2019” at the Carrousel du Louvre, from 8th to 10th November 2019.
