Photography Exhibition April Friges – In Absolute Space

Galerie Stephen Bulger Gallery presents “In Absolute Space”, April Friges’ first solo exhibition in Canada, from January 13 to February 17.

The works included in “In Absolute Space” make use of shorthand, which is enriched by new materials that have become available since the advent of this process in the late 1840s. This approach reveals a myriad of relationships with alternative and historical processes of photographic image production. His previous bodies of work, such as “CMY RGB”, “Untitled Color” (color darkroom) and “Spectator” (white darkroom), appear in this exhibition as playful collaborations with the material aspects of photography, revealing Friges’ interest in writing new narratives about the medium.

April Friges (b. 1981, Lorain, Ohio, USA) received her MFA from the University of California, Irvine, and is Associate Professor of Photography at Point Park University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
