The third edition of Düsseldorf Photo Weekend has just opened. Through February 2, galleries and museums across the city will hold more than thirty exhibitions. Some will continue into April. While the American photographer Duane Michals is this year’s main attraction, visitors will also find the surrealist Chema Madoz and black-and-whites by Jerzy Lewczyński at the Polish Institute. The program is rich in both classic and more contemporary works. From the landscapes of Thomas Wrede and photo-collages by Kano Také to portraits by Iwajla Klinke, the festival has left room for the younger generation, especially in the group exhibition With the eye of Dusseldorf galleries. Another major exhibition, Heimat brings together the work of twenty photographers working on the theme of home and the homeland, featuring urban landscapes by Pieter Bialobrzeski, Russian-born Andrej Krementschouk, and houses shot by Andreas Mühe.
