Dominique Issermann: Photographer of her own World

Preview

This is photography to which I really respond. She is a photographer who has her own world, her own space, and can turn her hand equally well to fashion photography or to shooting a story about Adjani. Her work is very comprehensive, her black and white work is in a world of its own, very gentle, very sensitive, very delicate, very discreet. She understands women very well, she knows how to photograph women, without doubt she’s one of today’s best portraitists. She’s one of the most respected photographers of our time.
She makes her photographs the way she wants them in a very liberated way, which is very rare. She doesn’t yield to fashion, she has her own world, she follows her own inclination. She photographs beauty in the most beautiful sense of the word. She is very sensitive to aestetics, to gesture, to light, to stripping back to the bare framework. Dominique is great at framing her view of the world, a great photographer. In a world that’s not always easy, that of showbusiness and fashion, her photos are above all that, very liberated.
