Django du voyage by Dorothy Shoes

Preview

Dorothy Shoes is a 32 year old French photographer. She started out in photography in 2005; her images quickly traveled the world thanks to exhibitions organized in many countries in Europe, Asia and North America. Through Dorothy Shoes’ images, we are plunged into an amazing and offset universe. Each of her subjects is marked by a dark and singular style.

Today, Rouergue Editions has launched Django du voyage, an immersion in nomadic lands. As the French political positions turn sour over the issue of gypsies (“gens du voyage”), the young artist has decided to express herself through Django and his own, a family of a Gypsy community. Far from the usual treatment that we are often shown of these nomadic populations, Dorothy Shoes produced a sensitive and poetic work, featuring images of a radical beauty. Through the pages, we discover the everyday life of Django, with the help of the photographer’s imagination.
