Deauville –Planche(s) Contact 2011

From May 5 to September 18, 2011, twelve photographers were in residence in Deauville, on the northern coast of France. There were stars of the contemporary photography scene like Davis Armstrong, Massimo Vitali and Lars Tunbjörk; promising young talent like Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre; six students from the photography schools at the Royal College of Art in London and the Ecole Cantonale d’Art in Lausanne; and, finally, Namsa Leuba, winner of last year’s contest.

They were all given carte blanche to offer their vision of Deauville, a city that the majority of the artists had never before seen. These portraits, landscapes, photographs of architecture and, of course, the beach— not to mention the event of the year: the G8 summit— will be the first entries in a collection that will become the municipal archives. We invite you to share with us this vision of Deauville.
