Cy Twombly led an isolated and lonely life, which is why it is known more amazing to know places of life and work with what diligence and respect were accepted and used this gift. Horst P. Horst, Deborah Turbeville or Bruce Weber, François Halard, Sally Mann and many others photographed the artist’s studios and residences. For the first time, their images are united in this important monograph.

Cy Twombly: Homes and Studios trace the entire history of the artist from 1954 until his death in 2011. He tells his story through the places and sites where he lived and lived paintings and sculptures he has created. New York, Rome, Bassano in Teverina, Gaeta, Lexington and his almost-industrial studio are appearing in this book.

The book also provides an overview of the artist’s collections: Twombly un gathered not only his own works, but also art objects from different eras, ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, tapestries and everyday objects he a handset with his own works in a real gesamtkunstwerk approach.
