I met only once Jean-Philippe Jourdrin at the end of the 80s, he presented his photos taken throughout France … I remember especially the shock I felt, pure sobriety of the step! The square black and white lends itself particularly to his approach, the photographer seems to fade in front of his subjects, he does not seek the anecdote, nor to make laugh, nor to use effects. Although some will not see an artistic approach, one can only praise his empathy and his interest in people.
To erase while bringing his discreet personal touch, this is perhaps the secret of the portrait photography of Jean-Philippe Jourdrin …
