Chaumont-sur-Loire, New Photo Season

Preview

Photography plays an important role in this season’s program at Chaumont-sur-Loire, the first arts and nature center. The theme of 2015 is the tree. To mark the occasion of the upcoming World Climate Conference, a group of internationally renowned photographers have come to share their striking visions of the world being reshaped by mankind.

Featured works include: Naoya Hatakeyama’s series “A Bird,” about the remnants of his hometown in Japan following the March 2011 earthquakes; American pilot Alex MacClean’s documentation of the systematic destruction of nature; Edward Burtysnky’s sublime portraits of irreversible devastation; Melik Ohanian’s installation piece shot in the botanical gardens of Palermo; Xavier Zimmermann’s detailed exploration of the canopy layer of forests; and Jean-Christophe Ballot’s series Australie, shot at ancient Australian sites.
