Brest: Festival Pluie d’images 2015

Preview

The Pluie d’Images photo festival runs through February 27th, 2015, in Brest, France. This year’s theme is the environment. The festival’s artistic director, Jérome Lepioufle, introduced us to the festival:

The festival was born from a collective of amateur photographers and a cultural event, the “Faites de la Photo,”  100 disposable cameras are distributed over the course of a day and  a specific theme is chosen. This is not a competition, but  collective work where vision is more important than technique. After three years, we wanted to expand the event. After a series of discussions with professional photographers, we came up with the idea of a festival that combined the work of amateurs and professionals, and the festival grew with each edition. We gained support from local and private partners as well as the region’s cultural institutions.

The festival Pluie d’Images is organized by the MJC/MPT of the Harteloire, a non-profit association, and we formed a team to help us be more professional in our approach.

We’re in the process of developing a project with three missions: educational, social and cultural.
