Brest 2013 –Marion Gambin

Preview

A small village in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Gulmarg is located about fifty kilometers from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and twenty kilometers from the Pakistani border.

“It’s the far side of the world, but nothing is made to seem exotic. Marion Gambin never lets herself be distracted by what is attractive but inessential. Things are collected without comment. This is documentary photography with the modesty it requires. It has little to do with Gulmarg itself. This is Marion Gambin’s Gulmarg.” – Christian Caujolle.

Gulmarg is accompanied by a selection from Gambin’s latest series, Olympic Stadium, taken in Phnom Penh.

Marion Gambin (b. 1985) lives and works in Paris, France. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, she enrolled at the ENS Louis Lumière, where she obtained a Master of Photography in 2011.
