Jasmine Bakalarz, 30, lives and works between Argentina and Canada where her camera and her gaze look at childhood in a social context.
Through childhood, she explores themes such as gender, cultural identity and immigration.
Herself having emigrated from Argentina to Canada at the age of 11, she treats the painful problem of the maintenance of ones’ original identity in the host country. She does this notably by photographing exceptional moments such as folkloric dance contests.
