Les Gens d’images celebrates its 70th anniversary at the Rencontres d’Arles.
Founded in 1954 by Albert Plécy, Jacques Henri Lartigue, and Raymond Grosset, the association Les Gens d’images brings together professionals and image enthusiasts. It has awarded two prestigious prizes every year since 1955:
- The Prix Niépce Gens d’images, which recognizes a professional French photographer (or one residing in France) under the age of 50
- The Prix Nadar Gens d’images, which recognizes a photography book published in France.
2025 marks a milestone: the 70th anniversary of Gens d’images, celebrated with the publication of an anniversary book retracing the association’s history, its flagship prizes, its iconic winners, and its highlights.
