Arles 2020 : Pablo Guidali : Solo

Preview

Arles 2020 from day to day by Thierry Maindrault

A new setting dedicated to photography has just been set up in Arles. Just behind the Town Hall on the way that leads us to the square du Forum, the Librairie du Palais is entirely dedicated to photography. The icing on the cake is that a very well-appointed gallery will regularly offer exhibitions.

For the opening of this new activity, the photographs of the Uruguayan Pablo Guidali were selected. Born in Montevideo in 1976, Pablo studied economics in Uruguay, before receiving a French scholarship several years later to study photography at the National School of Photography in Arles. Since 2012, he has obtained a number of grants to pursue his photographic approach.

The exhibition presented at Arles is very focused towards capturing the movement, the agitation and the permanence of activity. The very condensed scenography underlines, for these black and white photographs, the stealth of the moment drowned in the mass of immobility.
