In parallel to the exhibition of Lartigue‘s work from the twenties, the brilliant and urbane “Bibi” period that takes us, under the guidance of Maryse Cordesse, from Deauville to the Côte d’Azur and Biarritz (watch out for the Eglise des Trinitaires), Actes Sud has brought out a sumptuous album in collaboration with Hermès. Bringing together, chapter by chapter, the best in sport photography, a feel for the instant moment allied with elegance, tennis and swimming as well as aeronautics, motorbike and car racing, all the photos have that joyful lightness that makes any Lartigue shot instantly recognisable. The book has not only been extremely carefully created, with choice paper and typography, it includes some remarkable writing, both in the preface by Anne-Marie Garrat and the omniscient commentaries from sport historian, Thierry Terret. Remember that you can also find a Photo Poche on Lartigue from Actes Sud: it’s no. 3 in the collection.
