Antoine Verglas –Glamour and sensuality

Preview

Antoine Verglas searches for truth through his lens and captures, exposes and delivers photographs that are not only beautiful but elemental and sensual, in essence conveying the message that reality is not what we see but truly what we discover and create for ourselves. Submerged in feminine isolation, the convergence of abundance and sensuality spring forth an innate portrayal of “Glamour” through these photographs for the viewer to decipher. His subjects resonate with the need for our engagement and our emotional participation, impelling the audience to steal another intimate glance at the photographs with its mixture of sophistication and passionate innocence. Mixing intensely keen documentary style juxtaposition with revealing intimacy has been dubbed the Verglas style.

Verglas brings forth his vision to the forefront where fashion and art coalesce with a clear definition and a quality unique only to his eye. Having been immersed in the fashion world for nearly three decades, his subjects are some of the most well known and beautiful starlets, models and people in the world. From Monica Belluci’s voluptuousness to Halle Berry’s coquettish smile, they all show a side of themselves that only can be portrayed with elegance and glamour. He finds the true essences of “Glamour” to be an intimate output from distinct woman that needs to be lured out and appreciated from a voyeuristic standpoint. He accomplishes what he sets out to do and delivers stealthily 15 works that are indicative of his philosophy for beauty and glamour.

Antoine Verglas was born in Paris, France. In the 90s he introduced a documentary style of glamour photography to rising stars like Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford. He pictured top models at home in very personal portraits just as they were reaching celebrity status. Since then, Verglas has experienced a rapidly growing portfolio of celebrities, fashion, and magazine covers, remaining true to the intimate style that has become the his signature. His works have appeared in Elle, Esquire, GQ, Maxim, Sports Illustrated and Vogue.
