Allan Tannenbaum : Punk / Rock

Preview

D Day Studio in Woodstock, New York presents the exhibition PUNK/ ROCK by NYC photographer Allan Tannenbaum. The exhibition features over 25 of Tannenbaum’s iconic photographs of the 1970s’ most celebrated and notorious musical figures, including David Bowie, Patti Smith, John Lennon + Yoko Ono, The Rolling Stones, Pete Townshend + Roger Daltrey, The Ramones, Television, The Talking Heads, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Sid Vicious, Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry and The Clash.

For the first time ever in the United States, Tannenbaum’s photographic portfolio New York Punk: 1974-1981 is exhibited in its entirety. The portfolio features twenty-one photographs of the NYC punk scene’s most seminal performers and storied venues, such as CBGB, The Mudd Club and Max’s Kansas City. All of the Archival Pigment prints in this exhibition, which range in size from 11×14” to 24×36”, were printed by the photographer in his New York studio and are numbered from limited-editions.

In addition to the work on display, Tannenbaum’s portfolio Studio 54: 1977- 1981 is available to view at D Day Studio. Comprised of thirty-six photographs, this collection of prints serves as a unique record of the infamous nightclub’s atmosphere, energy, its famous and not-so famous denizens, and its cultural and historical impact.

Exhibition produced by The J. Blatt Agency LLC.

The exhibition will run through July 2019.
